Following Andrew’s arrest on Thursday — where he was held for nearly 11 hours on suspicion of sharing confidential trade information with Jeffrey Epstein — police returned to search his former home again the very next day. On top of that, the UK government is now considering legislation to formally remove him from the line of succession.

He currently sits eighth in line to the throne, and despite losing his royal titles, that position can only be changed through a new law. The government previously said this wouldn’t be a good use of Parliament’s time, but that stance has clearly shifted. They’ve said they’re not ruling anything out, though any legislation would likely wait until the police investigation wraps up. If it happens, it would be the first time a royal has been removed from the line of succession since King Edward VIII abdicated back in 1936.
